BLOSSBURG, PA – On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, around 12:10 PM, a Blossburg fire engine and personnel responded to the Dollar General store located at 18 Riverside Plaza on Main Street to investigate a report of an electrical burning smell coming from the refrigeration unit at the business.
Fire personnel arrived quickly at the store within minutes of being dispatched. Everyone was evacuated from the Dollar General store before firefighters arrived on scene.
An engine from Mansfield Hose Company was requested to respond as a strong electrical odor was reported by a firefighter who was inside the store investigating.
Around 12:25 PM the fire engine from Mansfield was able to be recalled, although they had already arrived on scene, as the issue inside the store was tracked down to a faulty motor in the cooler. Fire personnel next shut off the breaker to the cooler and set up ventilation around 12:30 PM. By 12:45 PM ventilation of the business was completed. At that time, all Blossburg firefighters were cleared to return to their station as the scene was turned over to the store’s maintenance man.
