Fire Breaks Out At Lehigh Valley Hospital in Dickson City

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, PA – A roof fire broke out in the roof of the Orthopedic Institute at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Dickson City Wednesday evening, February 4, 2026.

Heavy fire and police presence was noted around 9:30 PM as heavy flames were visible from the hospital’s roof, as patients were being evacuated to an office facility nearby and other patients were transported via ambulance to other nearby facilities.

In all 77 patients were moved out of the facility by use of wheelchairs and stretchers. Others were walking out with help of staff members, as they headed to the adjacent building located at 316 Main Ave. in Dickson City. Multiple ambulances were staged at the Citywide Animal Clinic parking lot and some were even parked along Main Avenue.

Approximately 100 first responders/firefighters and dozens of emergency vehicles were there assisting with the fire while others helped in the evacuation of patients.

The fire appeared to have broken out over the Orthopedic Institute, with parts of the roof collapsing.

The fire was reported contained or under control around 11:10 PM.

It was noted that the PA State Police, PEMA HQ, and PA Health Department were all on the scene at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Dickson City on Wednesday evening.

Presently there are no reported injuries. No cause of the fire has been provided as crews continue to work at extinguishing the fire. FNN received word that the Orthopedic Institute is a complete loss.
