COVINGTON, PA – Canada Road (Route 2025) in Covington Township, Tioga County was finally opened back up to traffic, on Friday, September 5, 2025.
The bridge suffered destructive damage back on August 9, 2024, after excessive rain from Hurricane Debby caused flash flooding that hit the area.
PennDOT has warned drivers that work on the bridge is not fully completed and motorist will see single lane conditions with flaggers during daylight hours while the contractor competes miscellaneous work on this bridge project.
Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed and drive with caution if traveling through this area.
Local residents are relieved to hear that they can now once again use the bridge, which will save them time, gas and money.
L.C. Whitford Company, Inc., is the prime contractor for this $1.2 million bridge replacement project. Work on this project includes construction of a pre-stressed concrete beam bridge, approach work, paving, line painting, and guide rail upgrades. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed later in September 2025,
