
Cecil Elmer “Bryce” Taft, age 89 of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on November 25, 2025 with his wife, Christine, by his side. Born on Saturday, August 29, 1936, in Elkland, PA, he was a son to the late Cecil and Florence (Burfield) Taft.
Bryce was known for his love of animals and his willingness to help others whenever they needed him. He lived a hardworking life and showed his care through action, dedication, and presence.
On February 14, 2005, Bryce married Christine A. Stanley, having spent 40 loving years together from the start of their relationship in 1985.
He was employed by Corning Glass Works in his younger years, later on he helped construct the Tioga Hammond Damn, and most recently he owned his own business, Taft Disposal.
Bryce was the mayor of Lawrenceville for 14 years, he was a member of the Addison Eagles #3904 – holding many offices there including president, and he was also an Elkland Moose member.
Bryce is survived by his wife, Christine Taft; and all the children: Arlan Taft (Tina), Debbie Gilboy (Pat), Robin Butters (Everett), Maria Phelps, Rodney Hopper, Ted Huntley (Tonyetta), Johnny Huntley (Jamie), Tim Huntley (Roxanne), and Tammy Huntley. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a part of his legacy forward. Bryce was preceded in death by two children, Rhonda Taft and Roger Hopper.
Family and friends are called to The Calvary United Methodist Church, 6 Franklin St, Lawrenceville, PA on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm for visitation. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 12:00 pm with Pastor Harry Dow officiating. He will then be laid to rest at Powers Cemetery in Lawrenceville following. A dinner will be held at the church following the burial, all are welcomed to attend.
Bryce will be remembered for his strong presence, his commitment to those he cared about, and the life he lived with determination and purpose.
