WELLSBORO, PA – A 2012 Peterbuilt Fleet water tanker went off the roadway early Tuesday morning, November 11, 2025, around 6:00 AM in Charleston Township.
The crash occurred near 12206 Route 6 and the water tanker came to rest along the edge of the embankment, with its front end slightly hanging over the embankment.
Early reports indicated that the driver had safely exited the truck and was not injured.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, 48-year-old Frederick E. Hutcheson of Troy, PA, was traveling east along Route 6 when the tanker lost traction on the slick roadway. The water tanker traveled off the right side of the eastbound lane striking the guide rail with the front of the truck. The vehicle suffered disabling damage. The guide rail prevented the truck from going down over a steep embankment.
Route 6 was closed down around 8:34 AM as Fulmer Recovery and Transportation tow truck arrived on scene to move the vehicle.
Fred Hutcheson was not injured in the accident.
Route 6 was reopened by 9:35 AM as the water tanker was removed from the scene.
