LIBERTY, PA – A 1989 mobile home went up in flames on a windy Wednesday evening, November 5, 2025, in Liberty Township. The fire quickly engulfed the home of Tracy Porter as fire crews from several departments were driving to the scene.

Porter was at work when he received a call that his home was on fire. Immediately he let the 911 Dispatch Center know that he had five cats inside the home as he rushed to his home.

The home located at 140 Country Lane was located at the top of a hill and responding fire personnel from Liberty could see heavy flames showing in the distance as they neared the area.

Fire crews from Liberty, Blossburg, and Morris were the first departments to respond. Next tankers from Canton and Ralston were requested by Liberty command.

The home was fully involved and it had already collapsed when the first firefighter arrived on scene just after 10:00 PM.

Water was pumped up to the fire from the road below as firefighters and additional tankers arrived on the scene to assist.

Firefighters could only go on a defensive attack to knock down blaze in hopes extinguishing the flames/

Within an half hour the fire was brought under control by firefighers around 10:37 PM and the Fire Marshal was notified of the devastating fire around that same time.

Blossburg fire crews were first to be released to head back to their stations by 11:35 PM.

The fire was reported out at 11:42 PM and the Red Cross was notified so that the home owner could get some assistance since he just lost everything he owned. Porter also lost his beloved pets in the fire.

All remaining fire crews were finally cleared to return back to their stations shortly after midnight.

The cause of the fire was not released, however, it is possible that no cause may be determined due to the extensive fire damage.
