Obituary of Waneta M. Ransom of Genesee, PA

Waneta M. Ransom, 97, of Genesee, PA, died Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Wellsville Manor Care Center in Wellsville, NY.  Born on Monday, January 16, 1928, in Westfield, PA, she was the daughter of Albert L. and Bessie Luther Robbins.  

On October 12, 1949, in Harrison Valley, she married John R. Ransom, who predeceased her on March 27, 1997.  

She served as custodian at the Genesee Fire Hall for many years.  Waneta was a member of Genesee Township Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and a member of the bowling league in Wellsville.  

Waneta attended the Genesee United Methodist, now Genesee Community Church.  

Surviving are: three children, Linda (Gregory) Cole of Gold, Gary (Susan) Ransom of Genesee, and Melonie (Len) Palmatier of Genesee; a great-granddaughter she raised, Merranda (Joshua) Taylor of Genesee; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick Sheehan and James Robbins.  

Private services will be held at the Ellisburg Union Wesleyan Church.  Rev. Roy Ward will officiate.  Burial will be in Genesee Cemetery.
