3 Officers Killed 2 Others Injured In Shooting Incident in York County, PA

YORK COUNTY, PA – (UPDATE) On Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2025, shortly after 2:00 PM, police and EMS crews responded to the scene of a serious officer-involved shooting in North Codorus Township, York County, PA, when officers were serving a warrant. According to officials. the first call on incident came in at 2:10 p.m.

Five officers were shot during the incident. Sadly three officers were confirmed to have been killed and the other two are reported in critical but stable condition at WellSpan York Hospital, according to Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris.

The incident which was reported to have happened near Haar Road and Emig Road in North Codorus Township prompted immediate lock down protocols at the Spring Grove School District’s schools and the WellSpan York Hospital as a safety precaution. 

A “signal 13,” was issued and means “officer in trouble,” Early reports indicated that multiple officers have been shot and in need of medical transport, with at least two officers suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Four Northern York Regional Police Department officers were shot and and a York Sheriff Deputy was also injured, 

The alleged gunman was said to have been shot by police. The gunman is deceased.

Governor Josh Shapiro and Attorney General Dave Sunday have been briefed and both responded to York County, according to their social media post on X. The public was advised to stay away from the area and follow law enforcement instructions.

Northern York County Regional Police officers and a York County Sheriff, as well as a York County forensics unit and personnel from the York County Coroner’s Office were said to have been on scene.
