LAWRENCEVILLE, PA – A couple was left homeless after a fire broke out and rapidly spread throughout their house located at 580 Station Road in Lawrence Township late Thursday evening, September 24, 2026.
Multiple calls rang into the Tioga County 911 Dispatch Center reporting a section of the home was on fire and at the time there was the possibility of someone still inside the burning home.
Lawrenceville, Tioga fire crews as well as Elkland RIT were all dispatched around 9:50 PM as a caller at 594 Station Road reported that their neighbor’s home was on fire.
Lawrenceville Fire Chief was first to arrive on scene at 9:55 PM and reported heavy fire showing and he requested a second alarm to get additional tankers to the scene, as the fire continued to spread. Two minutes later, the fire chief was reporting the entire home was fully involved.
A homeowner was reported to have suffered smoke inhalation, however, it is unknown if that individual went to the hospital by vehicle as they were not transported by Tioga ambulance, although they were there in case they needed to transport that person.
The fire burnt for over two hours, as crews from Lindley, Tioga, Millerton, Elkland, Mansfield, Osceola, and possibly Painted Post. FNN could not confirm if Painted Post actually assisted.
The Fire Marshal was contacted about the fire on Lawrenceville Fire Chief’s request.
A water supply was set up at the Lawrenceville Fire Department as fire crews used plenty of water to battle the blaze.
Wellsboro fire personnel did stand by for Tioga Volunteer Fire Department.
The American Red Cross was also contacted to help assist the Taylor family who had just lost their home and all their belongings.
Fire units started slowly returning back to their stations shortly after midnight.
The fire was finally reported out by 12:40 AM and all remaining fire crews from Lawrenceville were able to return to their station.
At 4:12 AM Lawrenceville and Tioga fire crews were called back to 580 Station Road for a rekindle as flames were coming from the smoldering home. Firefighters started arriving back on scene around 4:26 AM.
