Tractor Trailer Catches Fire in Lawrence Township

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, PA – Fire crews from Lawrenceville and Tioga responded to a reported trailer trailer fire early Monday morning, October 5, 2026.

The vehicle fire was reported around 2:25 AM, where the cab of the 18-wheeler caught fire along the Route 15 in the southbound lane near Mile Marker 194 in Lawrence Township.

It was learned that tractor trailer driver was able to have unhooked the trailer. The driver was said to have been hauling some sort of potatoes.

Fire personnel started arriving on scene by 2:40 AM. An arriving ambulance was requested to hold traffic at 2:43 AM and by 2:45 AM Route 15 Southbound was closed down for fire crews’ safety.

Lawrenceville command reported the fire was knocked down by 2:49 AM.

B&W Towing was requested by the truck driver. It was pointed out that the tractor trailer cab needed moved and the detached trailer would also need to be moved.

The fire was believed to have been extinguished around 2:55 AM or within 15 minutes of firefighters arriving on scene.

Pennsylvania State Police were next to arrive at the vehicle fire scene at 2:57 AM.

One lane of traffic was opened to traffic by 3:12 AM.

B&W Towing arrived at incident at 3:25 AM.

The remaining roadway was reopened by 4:18 AM as the tractor trailer cab and trailer were removed from the scene and all fire units were cleared to return to their stations.
